Our story

After leaving a dynamic role in Further and Higher Education to be more available for her children, AST founding member, Paula Messam channelled her wealth of experience as a Science Teacher and Online Tutor to develop Applied Science Tutoring.

Her experience in vocational education led to a greater understanding of how to cater to the needs of different students from a variety of starting points. Through this knowledge, AST strives to teach science in the way a student likes to learn.

At AST we feel that science education should foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Our focussed teaching helps students to analyse data, identify patterns, and develop logical conclusions, which are applicable in everyday decision-making.

Through the teaching we provide, we hope to develop future scientists with insights into how the natural world works, from the microscopic level of cells and molecules to the vastness of the universe.
